It’s difficult and it doesn’t feel right writing this at a time like today. We’ve been holding to this idea for a few months now and would like to let it go and put it out there. It is not our intention to drive away awareness from this global pandemic or social injustice towards black and minorities. I first want to acknowledge and want to thank all the essential workers and peaceful protestors that are risking their life every day for the well being of others.
A few months ago, I had a conversation with my friend Alia about the consumption of water and she mentioned how we should stop purchasing plastic water bottles. She explained to me how her family goes and fills up jugs of water from the mountains and I was impressed. By all means, we are not experts on this field nor are we scientist but we know that we’re going through an environmental crisis. In February of 2020, Sergio Peçanha wrote in the Washington Post that on average a typical American dumps 100 plastic bottles in nature each year.
In 2017, only 8.4 percent of the plastic used in the United States was recycled.
In better news, in May of 2020, Congresswoman Norma J. Torres, representative for California’s 35th district announced two Department of Interior grants totaling $1.5 million to help provide clean water to the city of Chino. The 35th district is home to Alia and I and we were very happy with our congresswoman.
To stop the daily consumption of plastic water bottles and avoid dumping hundreds bottles a year into nature, we thought that we should do something about it. We came up with the idea of having our own recycle water bottle and what better way than to do it with Yeti. A respectable brand that is known for their quality on recycled bottles.
We at BYS are proud that with this launch, we are committed and are willing to embrace change for a better world. I hope you can join us as we continue to be mindful on what we purchase, so we can stop harming our environment. We are the generation that can flip the script and move into the right direction. We send our sincerest wishes for your health and wellbeing to you and your family as we battle through this global pandemic. Thank you for your time and support.
