4 I.E. students have commited suicide since start of school year

Suicide

Three Rancho Cucamonga high school students and an elementary student have commited suicide since returning to school this month, officials have confirmed.

The three high school students were enrolled in Rancho Cucamonga, Alta Loma, and Etiwanda High School. The elementary student was enrolled in the Alta Loma Elementary School District, district officials comfirmed.

Tuesday, August 21st, Chaffey Joint Union High School District Superintendent Mat Holton in an email stated that counseling teams of trained therapists have been deployed to three high schools to work with students and counselors.

Alta Loma School District Superintendent, James Moore wrote in a statement, “The district has rallied around family, students and staff to provide supports and resources during this difficult time. We will continue to provide multi-tiered systems of support for all of our students throughout the year.”

We at BYS are deeply saddened for the loss of these four students in our community. We will continue working as a community to prevent this from happening again and would like to offer our deepest condolences and continued support.
